About Me

A few Words About me

Artist Statement

My name is Devon TeKolste,  a performing artist working in musical theatre and acting. As an artist, I mostly use song, spoken text, and movement as interconnected tools for storytelling. I am especially drawn to stories told through the body—where dance and physical expression evoke emotion, identity, and truth in ways words alone often cannot. Through performance, I seek to create work that is expressive, intentional, and deeply human.

At the heart of my practice is a desire to tell stories that promote acceptance, equality, and empathy, while challenging standardized ways of thinking. I am interested in work that invites reflection rather than prescribed, direct meaning—stories that allow audiences to see themselves represented onstage and to walk away with interpretations that resonate with their own lives and experiences. I believe theatre is most powerful when it opens space for conversation, recognition, and personal connection.

Collaboration is vital to both my artistic process and my understanding of a fulfilling life. I value creative environments built on trust, curiosity, and mutual respect, where relationships are cultivated as thoughtfully as the work itself. I strive to develop lasting artistic relationships that allow for shared growth—spaces where I can continue to learn, refine my craft, and embrace new opportunities, while also offering my own knowledge and experience in service of others.

As my career evolves, I aim to continue creating and contributing to work that feels honest, inclusive, and alive—performance that reflects the complexity of human experience and reminds us of our shared humanity.
